Renardo Sidney has it all. He's big (6 foot 11), can run the court, handle the ball and shoot from the outside. He's perhaps the top prep power forward in the land.
Last month, Sidney announced he would play next season at USC. All he needed to do was pass the SAT, which he did last week, clearing the way for the Fairfax High senior to sign a letter of intent.
But something has gone wrong in the past week. The Los Angeles Times reports that Sidney won't be playing for the Trojans. A source close to the family said the Sidneys and USC had agreed upon "a mutual parting of the ways."
Jeremy Tyler sent shockwaves through the basketball world last week. The 6-foot-11, 258 pound Tyler announced that he would skip his senior year at San Diego High, rescind his commitment to attend Louisville and play professionally in Europe.
He might have the talent to pull it off.
"He has more upside than any player I've seen since LeBron," said former NBA player Olden Polynice, who was a volunteer assistant this past season for San Diego High.
Duke's Mike Krzyzewski appeared on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" to promote his new book about coaching the U.S. Olympic team to the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.
Alabama showcased a series of promotional commercials during Saturday's spring football game. Here is one highlighting Anthony Grant, the new basketball coach, who says, "This is my first choice. This is where I want to be."
Of course, Grant made the decision to accept the Alabama job after learning that Billy Donovan had told Kentucky that he wasn't interested in leaving Florida, which is where Grant served as an assistant before his three seasons at Virginia Commonwealth.
His annual salary of $1.83 million appears to place him among the 20 highest-paid men's basketball coaches in the country.

It's one thing to shoot at Ducks when they're out of season. It's another to shoot at Ducks in a Eugene city park when they're out of season.
Oregon freshmen Josh Crittle, left, Michael Dunigan, center, and Teondre Williams are due in Eugene Municipal Court on Friday to answer charges that they shot at Ducks in Alton Baker Park on March 30.
