Kentucky's Jodie Meeks goes off for 54 points in Kentucky's 90-72 victory over Tennessee on Tuesday night, setting a Wildcat record and breaking Dan Issel's 53-point effort in a 1970 game against Mississippi.
Meeks, who also broke the Thompson-Boling Arena record of 49 points set by Louisiana State’s Chris Jackson in 1990, was 15 of 22 from the field and 10 of 15 from three-point range. He made all 14 free throws and had eight rebounds and four assists.
Meeks entered leading the Southeastern Conference with 24.2 points per game, but he surpassed that by halftime when he had 26. His previous career-high was 46 against Appalachian State earlier this season.
In this video, Meeks scores nine points in just over a minute.
