Northwestern beats Michigan State, 70-63, for its first victory in East Lansing since 1984. The Spartans' 28-game home-court win streak also came to an end. Only Notre Dame (45) and Kansas (35) had longer streaks.
Despite the loss, Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal writes that Michigan State is "still the best team in the Big Ten ... Certainly the most talented, with the most upside."
He adds: "If the Spartans go win at Ohio State on Sunday, it offsets this and they're back in charge. But if they don't ... a trip to Iowa is next, and there will be a lot of talk about whether Northwestern will be to the 2009 team what Iowa was to the 2008 team."
