Texas Tech's Pat Knight gets tossed Saturday night during his team's loss 82-69 loss to Nebraska at United Spirit Arena.
"Don't read too much into it," Knight said. "My job is to protect my players. If you all didn't see what happened, then that's your fault that you didn't see what happened. My job is to protect my players and you can only sit there and take so much, so I've got to protect my boys. That's my job."
His team is 11-10 and only 1-5 in the Big 12, but he still wants to see the students waste their time going to Red Raider games.
Meanwhile, there is a report that Bob Knight wants to become Georgia's next coach, replacing the fired Dennis Felton. Let us suggest that father and son go on a hunting trip.
As a Tech grad who was in Lubbock at the height of the Knight era, we are seeing the descent of the mens basketball program into the Big XII basement. Judging from this behavior, I don't think he has the fortitude to elevate this program back to the upper level of the conference. While he may have a valid point regarding student support, it's the wrong tact to take and he will regret it down the road.
