Southeastern Conference football might be something to brag about. SEC baskeball is something to forget about.
There's not a league team ranked in the top 25 and two coaches — Georgia's Dennis Felton and Alabama's Mark Gottfried — have already been fired.
It doesn't help that Kentucky is on the road to nowhere this season under Billy Gillespie, left.
The league grades out as the sixth best among Division I conferences and teams have only a 6-16 record against opponents ranked in the top 25 by collegerpi.com.
"We knew the league wasn't going to be as strong at the top because Tennessee was picked at the top and I knew we weren’t nearly as good as we were last year," Tennessee's Bruce Pearl said.
But Vanderbilt's Kevin Stallings says better days are ahead.
"People sure seem to want to make a big deal about it right now. But that’s OK. They need to take their shots while they can because we won’t stay young forever."
