Kentucky's Billy Gillespie tried the old I'm-not-talking-to-anybody-but-I-have-my-cell-phone-to-an-ear trick Friday when confronted by reporters after being fired, but basketball is big news in Lexington and members of the electronic media were determined to get a comment from the former coach. Mark Hebert of WHAS and Alan Cutler of WLEX led the charge as Gillespie tried to run from the horde.
Where does Kentucky turn? Florida's Billy Donovan said no to the Wildcats, and Memphis' John Calipari and Villanova's Jay Wright indicated they are not interested.
Does that leave Oklahoma State's Travis Ford as the No. 1 candidate? Ford, a Kentucky graduate, issued a no comment through a university spokesman.
After Donovan said he was staying, his likely replacement at Florida, Anthony Grant, took the Alabama job.
The coaching carousel is just getting started, so stay tuned.
