It's March, and the buzzword is bubble.
While everybody is trying to figure out the field of 65 teams for the NCAA tournament, there's a site taking a look at the other side of the postseason. NIT-ology sifts through the projected leftovers to find the 32 best teams for the National Invitiation Tournament.
And for teams that don't rate among the top 97, there's another alternative. The inaugural College Insider tournament will pick 16 teams, with the championship game scheduled for March 31.
That means 113 teams will be competing in postseason play. A big bubble.
Update: Foolish us. We forgot about the College Basketball Invitation, which will pick over the crumbs to select a field of 16 teams. That brings the total to 129 teams.
You forgot the CBI http://www.gazellegroup.com/events/cbi/index_main.htm
