Former Kentucky guard Eric Bledsoe is the focus of an NCAA investigation, according to the New York Times.
Changes in Bledsoe's academic record while a prep in Alabama is at the heart of the probe, with investigators also looking at possible extra benefits the player and his mother received after a transfer.
Bledsoe played only one season at Kentucky before declaring himself available for the NBA draft, to be held June 24 at Madison Square Garden. He is projected to be selected in the middle of the first round.
The Times reports that Bledsoe's grade-point average in core courses jumped from 1.9 after his junior year to just under 2.5 during his senior year at A.H. Parker High in Birmingham. Bledsoe transferred to Parker for his senior year after the district closed Carol W. Hayes High.
